Services

Consulting is such a broad and ill defined term as to almost be useless. In many cases, it is used to describe a service where someone comes in, analyzes what you are doing now, and make suggestions on how to do it differently, and then charge you for it. Interesting concept and may even be worthwhile on some levels, assuming you get the right person. I much prefer to act on the advice that I give.

That’s right, I said give. For the most part, I don’t charge for my consulting services because I make my money on the doing, not the telling. At the end of the day, we all have to feel good about the work we do. Unless you as the customer is specifically expecting to bring me in, pay me for my advice and then use someone else to do the work, I don’t expect to be paid for it. I earn my keep.

In addition to the basic consultation, I provide service in four general areas. These are computer supply/setup & support, computer networking, website design & maintenance and custom business & database programming. For the most part, almost everything to do with computers can be dropped into one of these categories.

Computer Supply & Support
Anyone can walk into Future shop or Best Buy and purchase a computer. However, are you really getting what you need? The sales person most likely has no real idea how you are going to use your computer and in most cases, the computer will be loaded with trial software and other crap that will just get in the way. Network Design & Implementation
Many offices today are already networked to some degree, most often to share the one internet connection or maybe a printer. However, if your office has more than 4 or 5 computers, you are starting to get into an area that needs a little greater attention. Even with only two computers, there may be a number of things that can be improved, even if it’s just the placement of the cables. More Information...

Website Design & Maintenance
These days, some form of web presence has become part of the whole business package. In order to maintain (or attain) a complete professional image, you need to consider some form of web presence. Even if it is only a very basic website and the ability to have an email address tied to your company name rather than the name of your ISP. More Information...

Custom Buisness & Database Software
Quite simply, Information is Power, and those who have that information have the power. A database (or business management software application) allows you to collect information related to your business and keep it in a neat and organized format. A database can be used simply as a record keeping system, a Point of Sales System or even as the two combined. Imagine if you could keep all of the information concerning your customers and your suppliers in one system. Now imagine if you could generate reports, nearly spontaneously on the relationship between such pieces of data. More Information...

At the end of the day, I do not claim to be a world class expert in any one of these fields. I brand myself as a sort of Jack-of-all-Trades when it comes to computers. My aim is not to be the best web designer or the best database guru, but rather, provide a small business owner with a one stop resource that can handle the daily computing needs of his or her office. To this end, I want to work with you.
