Webdesign & Maintenance

Web Design
The design, construction and maintenance of a good web site starts with a concept! Once you have a good concept or idea as to what you want, the rest of the battle is all down hill.

The possibilities of what can be done with a web site are as varied and as dynamic as life itself. One need only look as far as his favorite search engine to know that no two web sites are created equal. Some examples of what can be done with a web site follow.

Corporate
Does your company lack a presence on the internet. Your competition is on the internet, why aren't you. The simple fact is that everyone is getting on the internet. It helps to promote visibility, and that's what you want, to be noticed.

Even if your company doesn't have anything that could be easily sold over the internet, a web site could easily benefit you. First, printed advertising is expensive. So why not minimize your expenses there by placing all you colorful images and graphics onto the electronic medium of the internet.

Maybe your company doesn't sell to the public. You may still want a presence on the internet so that the curious public can find out who you are. Also, the people that you sell to may have questions or concerns about your product. If you have that info on your web site, then they can look it up any time that they want, including 3:00AM when you are fast asleep.

Commercial
Do you have a product or a service that you wish to sell over the internet. Do you think that you are simply not reaching a large enough customer base through storefront sales. There are now people who don't go to the supermarket in favor of shopping on the internet.

This concept is valid for anything form the big guys (amazon.com) to the little retailer or home entrepreneur with a half dozen hand made products.

Remember that just because you have a presence on the internet, does not mean that you will have a sudden rush of business via the .com model. Like any good product, even your web site will need advertising to generate any significant traffic.

Organization
Are you part of an organization or club. Would you like to give this club a little more visibility than it currently has. With a custom designed web site, you can promote your club or organization to any degree that you want.

This could be great for Public Relations purposes if your organization is not well understood, or worse, misunderstood.

Hobby
Do you have a hobby that you enjoy. Would you like to share it with others. How about the world. With a web site dedicated to your hobby, you could share or promote your hobby to anyone or everyone.

Marriage
Getting married? Do you know someone who is? Why not put the details of the wedding on the Internet. This way, anyone who is invited can view the site and get all the details.

On this web site you can put everything from the wedding date, the full invitation list, the gift registry (why only the Bay?), a map. The list is endless.

Odds are, there are a lot of people that haven't met the "spouse to be". Why not put pictures of the couple on the web site. Maybe a description of the bride and groom and what they do for a living. Once the guests know the couple a little better, they may get some sort of inspiration for a really cool gift.

After the wedding, you could place the wedding photos onto the web site so that anyone who wants can view, download, or even print them for their own collections.

For the really industrious couple, take orders for proofs or sets of proofs online and ship them to your relatives. Maybe make back the money you spent on the reception.

Some of My Work
Rank Sharp North America uses this site to help promote the tools and other products they market here in North America. While they don't sell directly to the public, they do need to provide a place for their end customers and service technicians to be able to get information on their products. The SCA is a Not-for-Profit group of like minded people who participate in a wide range of activities. This site is for the Barony of Lions Gate, a group within the SCA all located here in the lower mainland of BC. While the general layout and look and feel for this site was designed by myself, much of the content was inherited from a previous version of the site.

Recently re-invented. Much of the content has been retained, just reformated, while redesigning the site container. This is an example of an old site that I did for Bryan Watkins years ago. It is also an example of how things change on the internet. His current website looks nothing like this one.
